My Opinion about Future Robot Mechanism

When i talk about artificial intelligence, the newest microsoft game console which is xbox 360 kinect always inside my mind. This xbox 360 kinect is a game console which can read human movement and then process it in the console and then perform our movement in the screen to play the games. I never see this console by my eyes, but i assume that this console has a camera which will read movement or it has a censor which can detect movement. I think, the reader camera and censor detector are also used in the artificial intelligence world which in this case they perform as the eyes of the robots. The robot detect the movement or read the movement and then the data will be transfered to its 'brain' and the robot will react according to what the creator program.

Robotic Car

Few days ago, I found info about Robotic Car (not as driving itself, but just to park on its own) and i started searching for it. From a post  titled "What we are driving at" written by Stanford Professor Sebastian Thrun of  Grand and Urban Challenge Fame, it was unveiled that Google is developing robotic cars.

Our automated cars, manned by trained operators, just drove from our Mountain View campus to our Santa Monica office and on to Hollywood Boulevard. They’ve driven down Lombard Street, crossed the Golden Gate bridge, navigated the Pacific Coast Highway, and even made it all the way around Lake Tahoe. All in all, our self-driving cars have logged over 140,000 miles. We think this is a first in robotics research.
Google have automated Priuses and Audi TT as part of this project. and Stanford also preparing Audi TTS for autonomously driving to the top of Pikes Peak.

So what we would expect as an outcome from this project? Just stay tune in this blog for next update of this news!

Robot's Future

From Science Daily, i read that computer scientist program robot to play soccer. Robot will recognize object from the camera on its head and process it. The robot are program to play soccer and they predict that Robots are able to compete against world champion by 2050. The idea of this robot is it can move and program to read the ball from the camera on its head and try to score a goal.

small bugs, big functions.

Digital ants and birds, then, are good at thinking up solutions to problems, but some scientists are now working on something that can act as well as think: robots. A swarm of small, cheap robots can achieve through co-operation the same results as individual big, expensive robots—and with more flexibility and robustness; if one robot goes down, the swarm keeps going.Later, the “Swarmanoid” project will be ready to demonstrated. This is based on three sorts of small, simple robot, each with a different function, that co-operate in exploring an environment. Eye-bots take a look around and locate interesting objects. Foot-bots then give hand-bots a ride to places identified by the eye-bots. The hand-bots pick up the objects of interest. And they all run home.

TIGAL Launches VRbot

The VRbot is a is a tiny, low cost voice recognition module designed to easily add versatile voice command functionality to Robots and many additional applications where voice command control is desired.
The VRbot module provides users with 26 built-in Speaker Independent commands that allow basic control of robot movement straight out-of-the-box. The module has been designed to fit inside the chest cover of Robonova-I and Robozak robots and is ready to run immediately after installation. Users also have the possibility to customize up to 32 user-defined Speaker Dependent triggers or commands and assign the to specific movement sequences of the robot using included Windows based GUI software.
The VRbot module can also be used to efficiently implement Voice Recognition capabilities on a vast range of other host platforms that have an UART at TTL level or are capable of emulating one through Bit Banging, such as Arduino Boards, PIC, ATMEGA, ARM etc.
above all, artificial intelligence plays a important role in these days. human beings get a lot of benefits from them

Underwater World Robot

Robots don't have to breath. It makes them can stay longer in the water than human. That's why scientists try to create this AUV (autonomous underwater vehicles) to dive and do human things. This prototype is smaller, cheaper, and stronger than the previous prototype. Before, they need cable to control the underwater robot, but AUV is an automatic robot which have its own 'brain' which have been setup to do work by itself. This robot can go the the check point to do its work and then go back to the main point, and then go back to the check point again to maintain something if needed. This is still planning but they will try it in 2011 and they plan that this prototype can go till 6000 metres depth.

Artificial Intelligence Robots Show up in Iron Man 2 Movie

Iron Man 2 is a 2010 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Iron Man, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It is the sequel to 2008's Iron Man, the second film in a planned trilogy and is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Jon Favreau, the film stars Robert Downey Jr., who reprises his role as Tony Stark.
Stark has revealed his identity as Iron Man and is resisting calls by the United States government to hand over the technology. Ivan Vanko has duplicated the technology and built weapons of his own, creating new challenges for Stark. Ivan Vanko as his opponent in this movie, create an artificial military robot. It can think and do military defense as human such as lock on target and many more.
For me this is an awesome movie, you should watch it !

First Ever Robotic Surgery

Can you imagine that someday robot will take off the duty of the doctor ?

Nowadays, there are some new experiment of the robotic surgery.
A Canadian man who was having his prostate removed had more reason to be nervous than most his surgery was performed entirely by robots.
In a world first medics at Montreal General Hospital used an anesthesia robot, nicknamed McSleepy, to put the patient under. They then employed the DaVinci surgical robot to remotely perform the delicate operation.

ASIMO, Honda's AI interpretation

At October 31st 2010, ASIMO is having it's 10th anniversary since it has made into this world. This Robot that was powered to life a decade ago has gone on to be a guiding light for success in its entire field. The project was started 25 years ago, and another 15 years is used for extensive research to complete.

Honda treated the guests with short films about this ASIMO's development from the start, so it's not too tech-heavy and rather giving some history lesson to the guests.

ASIMO is the result of Honda engineer's humanoid robotics research. It can run, walk on uneven slopes and surface, turn smoothly, climb stair, grasp objects and reaching something. It can be developed to help elderly or a person to move from bed to wheelchair and vice versa.

I wonder what's the limit of this robot development if it can even conduct Detroit Symphony Orchestra..
Dance..

It is interesting to keep watching the development of artificial intelligence, so stay tune for next post!

AI development

I strongly believe that the best way to AI building narrow AI and then gradually extend it toward more and more General Intelligence.AI has made our life easier. It quite popular to use AI in factories with repetitive work these days. Human only need to sit behind and handle some emergency. AI also has had some success in limited, or simplified, domains.  So i think AI has a great potential in the future

Here are intelligent techniques we used to build that feature:

1) Preprocessing data prior to using it in decision making.

Row data is coming in the form of "page views" and "spam report clicks".

Special process raw input into RecruiterRating and JobRating tables.

2) Forgetting.

The most recent data is usually more valuable for decision making.

That's why yet another PostJobFree process makes sure that old data is slowly losing it's value (and disappears if the value is too low).

AI Bots in the Internet

Several days ago, starting when we choose Artificial Intelligence World as a topic, I've been searching information about it. And I find something really interesting.....

This site FREAK ME OUT! Now even a Chat Bot can answer human perfectly! You can ask anything you want, and she will answer it close to perfect, just as if she is a human living inside a computer world!

There are few other examples here and here . The last link leads to top 10 best chatbot in the world.
This development of Chat Bot could lead into greater response of robot's AI mind, which can be expanded by learning on its' own. So in 2-3 years, don't be surprised if you see a robot like one in the picture below can response to your words.

Robocup 2010 in Singapore

Robot team from Germany who name their team B-Human won this year Robocup which is held in Singapore at Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 19-25 June. In the game, they are not allowed to control with remote. Participant only given standard robots and they create their own software to move the robot. So it's purely competition between their own software.

This is definitely a good news for all football fans. Maybe in 20 or 30 years, you can play football with a robot which may be better than David Beckham. ;p

Former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik enjoying chess with "....."

Chess fan must be happy about this news because the chess robot has come here. This is the first time in the history. There's a youtube preview about Vladimir Kramnik who apperently is former world champion back in 2006 versus a "Chess robot". At some point, it's quite funny when Vladimir Kramnik offer his hand for a draw and the robot just move his hand to continue playing. Wanna know who's the winner??then watch it.

Please enjoy it ^^

Playstation Move

It's surprising how long Sony and Microsoft have let Nintendo sit alone in the motion gaming stakes, only now stepping in with the waning popularity of Wii. At a glance, there's no mistaking the incredible influence the Wii had on the aesthetics of the Move, but it's when you look at the core tech that it's strength becomes apparent.  While the Wii handles motion using accelerometers and infra-red, the Move ups the ante with magnetometers and angular rate sensors with LED marker tracking. There are four titles available at the time of launch: Sport Champions, a collection of themed sporting games as the name suggest; Start the Party, a collection of seemingly random and inoffensive mini-games; Kung Fu Rider; Crazy Downhill office chair racing; and Eyepet, by far our favourite. It's a great example of the motion tracking and augment reality power of the Move. On top of applying 3D rendered implements of fun to the end of the wand, players can interact with their pets via hand gestures and voice. It's not an overly inspiring line-up for the core gamer out there but, fear not, Heavy Rain is going through the Move filter and there are some promising titles coming up in Time Crisis Razing Storm,  Little Big Planet 2 and Killzone 3. By far the weakest aspect of the Move is one of the more important set pieces: The Playstation Eye. The camera features a maximum resolution of 640x480 and fairly poor light sensors, which means, to get the best result from the Move, a well-lit room is a must

AI is applied to many small things in our lives such as mobile phones, computer technology, robotics, and many others technology invention.

What is AI ?

According to Wikipedia,
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the intelligence of machines and the branch of computer science that aims to create it. AI textbooks define the field as "the study and design of intelligent agents" where an intelligent agent is a system that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chances of success.

Where does AI applied?
  • Computer Science
  • Finance
